PortfolioBoston Documentary Wedding Photographer Specializing in multicultural, nontraditional, and intimate Weddings
I believe that the best photos happen when you forget I’m there. That’s why I love starting out as your surprise proposal photographer, it’s the most honest a moment can get. Once the shock wears off, we can hang out as your Boston engagement photographer to capture the “just engaged” glow in a way that feels like a double date rather than a formal photoshoot.
When the actual wedding day arrives, I’m ready for whatever vibe you’ve chosen. As an experienced wedding and elopement photographer in Boston, I’ve documented everything from quiet morning vows to rowdy downtown celebrations. My approach is simple: I stay out of the way and let the day unfold, making sure the small, stolen moments get just as much attention as the big ones.

Hi, I’m Sam!
After a decade in the industry, I’ve realized that my favorite events are the ones rooted in deep connection, from multicultural celebrations to intimate ‘just us’ moments. It’s why I’m so passionate about being an LGBTQ+ wedding photographer in Boston, because as a member of the community myself, I know how important it is to ensure every love story feels seen and celebrated. That same focus on identity is why I love being a Boston Chinese wedding photographer; it allows me to document those heritage-rich moments with a modern eye, much like my work as an Asian wedding photographer. If I wasn’t a photographer, I’d probably be running a food truck or a cat cafe, but for now, I’m content spending my spare time on city night walks and perfecting my husband’s favorite desserts – mango cheesecake, tiramisu, and tres leches.
More About Sam
I’m the right wedding photographer for you if…
- You’re over the “stiff” stuff. You want a wedding photographer who captures you as you actually are—no awkward chin-tucking or robotic posing.
- You value presence over a Pinterest board. You’re planning a wedding centered on honest connection, belly laughs, and the people in the room, rather than over-the-top setups.
- You want a “fly on the wall” with a vision. You’re looking for someone chill and easygoing who can blend into the background of your day while still catching the lightning-in-a-bottle moments.
- You want to feel your photos. You aren’t just looking for pretty pictures; you want images that serve as a return ticket to how you felt in that exact second.
- You just want to have fun. You’re ready to let go, trust your photographer, and focus on the celebration while I handle the storytelling behind the lens.

Boston Wedding Photography FAQs
My approach is rooted in documentary wedding photography, which means I prioritize the honest, unscripted moments over stiff, traditional posing. I aim for a candid feel that captures the true energy of your day, paired with a true-to-color editing style. I want your photos to feel timeless—looking exactly the way you remember the light, the colors, and the emotions of the moment.
I certainly do. I thrive in the unscripted moments of multicultural celebrations, Jewish ceremonies, and Asian weddings. As an LGBTQ+ person and an inclusive wedding photographer, I prioritize creating a safe, celebrated space for every couple. Whether you’re planning a mixed-faith union or an intimate wedding filled with nontraditional, personal details, I’m here to capture your story exactly as it unfolds.
I do. I have a soft spot for the intimacy of smaller celebrations. As a wedding and elopement photographer, I offer specialized coverage for micro-weddings, city hall ceremonies, and intimate restaurant dinners. I believe that a 10-person wedding deserves the same thoughtful documentation as a 200-person gala.
Almost every couple tells me this during our first meeting! My documentary style is actually perfect for people who feel camera-shy. Instead of forcing you into rigid poses, I use gentle prompts that spark real interaction and laughter. My goal is to make it feel like we’re just hanging out while I happen to have a camera. You’ll be surprised at how quickly the “awkwardness” disappears when you’re just focusing on each other.
I take the safety of your memories incredibly seriously. Every camera I use has dual card slots, meaning every single shutter click is instantly recorded onto two separate memory cards for immediate redundancy. Once I’m home, your images are backed up to multiple hard drives. I treat your files with the same care I would my own family’s history.
You can generally expect to receive about 60 images for every hour of coverage. Your final gallery will be delivered via digital download with personal printing rights. My standard turnaround time for the full gallery is 6–8 weeks, though I always try to send over a few “sneak peeks” shortly after the wedding so you have something to celebrate with right away.
