Pierce House Tented Wedding in Lincoln, MA

Kayla and Mike had one of those weddings that just felt right from start to finish. The kind where you look around and everything is exactly where it’s supposed to be. As a Boston wedding photographer, getting to document their day at Pierce House in Lincoln was a genuine treat. This historic New England estate has a way of making every moment feel both grand and intimate at the same time, and Kayla and Mike absolutely made the most of it.

What Makes Pierce House Such a Great Wedding Venue?

Pierce House is one of those venues that does a lot of the heavy lifting for you. The grounds are beautiful, the historic architecture adds instant character, and the tented reception space feels both elegant and relaxed. It’s a popular choice for couples who want that classic Massachusetts estate feel without anything feeling too stuffy or formal.

If you’re still in the research phase, this Pierce House wedding planning guide covers everything from vendor policies to the best spots on the property for photos. Definitely worth a read before you book.

Getting Ready

The Ceremony at St. Brigid Parish

Before the reception fun kicked off, Kayla and Mike exchanged vows at St. Brigid Parish. The church photos are gorgeous, with that timeless, traditional feel that pairs so well with the outdoor reception that followed.

Portraits Around the Pierce House Grounds

After the ceremony, we headed to the Pierce House grounds for portraits. The estate gave us so many options. Open lawn for wide, light-filled couples shots. Lush green backdrops for something more intimate. And that iconic trolley moment, complete with a “Just Married” sign, that Kayla and Mike absolutely nailed.

Mike carried Kayla off the trolley. The wedding party was grinning. It was exactly the kind of candid, genuine moment that you can’t plan for but always hope to get.

The two of them walking the grounds together, just talking and laughing, made for some of my favorite portraits of the whole day. Pierce House is consistently one of the best historic mansion wedding venues in Massachusetts for exactly this reason. There’s variety everywhere you look.

What Is the Pierce House Tent Like for a Wedding Reception?

The Pierce House tent is spacious, warm, and beautifully lit. String lights overhead, round tables dressed up with floral centerpieces, and enough room for a full dance floor without feeling cramped. It photographs really well, especially once the sun goes down and the ambient lighting takes over.

Kayla and Mike went with blue and yellow accents throughout their florals and décor. The bouquet was stunning, a mix of white blooms with pops of yellow, and the centerpieces carried that theme across every table. The whole tent felt cohesive without being over-the-top.

The Reception: Dancing, Toasts, and Cake

Once guests were settled in, the reception moved fast in the best way. The first dance was sweet and unhurried. Then came the father-daughter dance and the mother-son dance, both of which had the whole room feeling something. You could see it on people’s faces.

The toasts brought some laughs, including one from a groomsman that had the whole tent going. Kayla and Mike cut the cake, danced with their people, and then the dance floor basically took over from there.

There’s a photo from later in the evening of Kayla and Mike on the dance floor together, just the two of them in the middle of everything, and it’s one of those shots that captures why we do this work.

A Little Context: Kayla and Mike Before the Wedding

If you want to see where Kayla and Mike’s story really started, at least from a photography standpoint, check out their engagement photos at Carson Beach. It’s a great look at who they are together, relaxed, genuine, and easy to photograph.

That comfort carried right through to the wedding day. They weren’t stiff or nervous in front of the camera. They just were themselves, which always makes for better photos.
