Dreamy Mountain Wedding at the Omni Mount Washington Resort

There are few places that actually look like a postcard in real life, but the Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, NH, is absolutely one of them. Because this landscape offers such a diverse mix of grand architecture and rugged mountain vistas, working as a Boston-based wedding photographer who travels throughout New England allows me to capture the unique contrast between refined elegance and the wild beauty of the Northeast. Whether I am documenting a coastal ceremony in Massachusetts or a summit celebration in New Hampshire, I am constantly chasing locations that blend raw natural beauty with a truly memorable guest experience for my couples.

Getting Ready in a Historic New England Wedding Venue

The day began inside the historic hotel, where soft, early light filtered through the windows and the mountains were just visible beyond the glass. As a White Mountains wedding photographer, I love capturing these slow morning moments.

Paul and Sandrine intentionally built “breathing room” into their schedule. Instead of rushing, they took time to read notes to one another and laugh with their wedding party, soaking in the fact that they were finally getting married in the middle of the New Hampshire mountains.

Breathtaking Mountain Views of the Presidential Range

The centerpiece of their Omni Mount Washington wedding was the ceremony on the South Veranda. This space is a photographer’s dream because it offers the perfect middle ground between an indoor and outdoor setting. It is covered and structured, yet completely open to the fresh air and sweeping views of the peaks. The architecture of the veranda framed the couple beautifully, with the lines of the historic building leading the eye directly to them, while the mountains quietly anchored the scene from behind.

Saying “I Do” on the South Veranda

The heart of Paul and Sandrine’s day was their South Veranda ceremony. The space felt like the perfect middle ground between “indoors” and “outdoors”, it was covered and structured, but open to the fresh air and views. Guests settled into their seats with the mountains stretching out just beyond the railings, creating a sense of intimacy that still felt connected to the landscape.

As the ceremony began, there was this calm, grounded energy. You could see the emotion in the way they looked at each other, hear it in their vows, and feel it in the way their families watched from the front rows. The South Veranda framed everything beautifully: the lines of the architecture, the soft light filtering in, and the mountains quietly anchoring the scene from behind.

Wedding Portrait at the Omni Mount Washington Resort

Throughout the day, we used the expansive grounds of the resort for the bridal party and wedding portraits:

  • The Iconic Front Lawn: We started with classic “everyone together” portraits here, where the grand hotel and mountain views frame the entire bridal party in a way that feels instantly iconic.
  • The Wraparound Verandas: We moved to the verandas for more relaxed, candid-style photos where the wedding party could share inside jokes and truly be themselves.
  • Intimate Pathways: Later in the afternoon, we found quieter pathways for portraits, allowing Paul and Sandrine a few minutes to breathe and talk away from the crowd.
  • As their Omni Mount Washington Resort wedding photographer, I find that the most memorable images often come from those in-between moments, walking hand-in-hand across the lawn or pausing to watch the light soften over the Presidential Range.

An Evening Reception in the Presidential Ballroom

After the ceremony and portraits, guests moved seamlessly into the grand indoor reception space, the Presidential Ballroom, where the energy shifted from the quiet anticipation of the mountains to a full-on celebration. As their wedding photographer at the Omni Mount Washington Resort, I love how the transition from the outdoor vistas to the historic ballrooms creates a sense of classic New England sophistication.

Paul and Sandrine kept their Bretton Woods NH wedding personal and heartfelt. Their reception was filled with meaningful toasts, a first dance that had everyone leaning in, and a soundtrack that pulled people onto the dance floor.
