Nashoba Valley Winery Wedding in Bolton, MA

If you’ve spent any time looking at wedding venues in the greater Boston area, Nashoba Valley Winery in Bolton, MA has probably shown up on your radar. And honestly, for good reason. The property is stunning, the food is excellent, and the combination of a working winery, brewery, and distillery makes for a genuinely special atmosphere. But before you get too far into planning, it’s worth knowing exactly what kind of wedding this venue is set up for right now. As a Massachusetts wedding photographer, I’ve photographed at venues all over New England, and I want to give you the real picture so you can make the right call for your day.

The short version: Nashoba Valley Winery is currently best suited for intimate weddings of up to 52 guests. If that’s what you’re planning, you’re in luck. If you’re envisioning a 150-person celebration, this guide will help you figure out whether the venue can still fit your needs, or whether it’s worth looking elsewhere.

What Nashoba Valley Winery Is Actually Like as a Wedding Venue

Nashoba Valley Winery sits at 100 Wattaquadock Hill Road in Bolton, MA, about an hour west of Boston off Route 495. The property is a working winery, craft brewery, and distillery spread across a beautiful stretch of New England farmland. Apple orchards, vineyard rows, mature trees, and rolling terrain. It’s the kind of place that looks incredible in photos without needing a lot of decorating.

The winery has been producing wine from this Bolton property since the early 1980s, and the grounds have the lived-in character that newer venues can’t fake. When you visit, you’ll want to eat at J’s Restaurant if you haven’t already. It’s a genuinely good restaurant, not just a catering hall, and that quality carries directly into what your wedding guests will experience.

The Event Spaces Available for Weddings

Nashoba currently offers a few different private event options. Here’s what each one looks like.

J’s Restaurant: The Primary Wedding Space

For couples planning a wedding, J’s Restaurant is the main event. The space accommodates up to 52 guests and is available for exclusive buyout. That means the entire restaurant is reserved for your group, with the full restaurant team handling service.

It’s an intimate, rustic-elegant setting, exactly the kind of space where a small wedding feels intentional rather than scaled-down. White tablecloths, real silverware, attentive service, and food and wine produced on the property. For a small wedding, it doesn’t feel like a compromise. It feels like the right choice.

Availability and pricing for J’s Restaurant:

Evening events (5:30pm to 10:00pm):

  • Thursday through Saturday
  • Facility rental fee: $2,000
  • Food minimums: $2,000 (Thursday), $3,500 (Friday and Saturday)

Daytime events (11:30am to 2:30pm):

  • Wednesday through Sunday
  • Facility rental fee: $1,250 (Wednesday/Thursday) or $1,750 (Friday through Sunday)
  • Food minimums: $1,500 (Wednesday/Thursday) or $2,000 (Friday through Sunday)

All pricing is subject to a 7% meals tax and a 20% house charge, which covers both a service charge to the wait staff and an administrative charge. Alcohol is sourced exclusively through Nashoba Valley Spirits and is priced separately. You can get the full details and submit an inquiry at nashobawinery.com/events/js-restaurant-private-event.

The Pavilion: For Larger Casual Gatherings

The Pavilion at Nashoba can accommodate up to 120 people and features yellow pine ceilings, arched beams, and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the property. It’s a beautiful space. However, it’s currently only available Monday through Thursday, from 11:30am to 3:30pm, which means it’s not a fit for a traditional Saturday evening wedding.

The Pavilion packages are structured around casual gatherings and include boxed lunches, a cheese board, soft drinks, and a commemorative wine glass for each guest. The rental fee is $3,250 for four hours plus one hour for setup, with food at $50 per person (plus 20% tip and 7% tax). Bar service is consumption-based and provided by Nashoba Valley Spirits. More details at nashobawinery.com/pavilion.

If you’re considering a weekday daytime celebration and want a bit more room to spread out, the Pavilion is worth a conversation with their events team.

Outdoor Patio Option

There’s also an outdoor covered patio available Thursday through Sunday, noon to 4:30pm, for up to 40 guests. It works well for an intimate luncheon or a casual outdoor celebration on the property.

Food and Drink at a Nashoba Valley Wedding

This is where Nashoba really shines. J’s Restaurant isn’t a catering operation pretending to be a restaurant. It’s an actual restaurant with a genuine culinary identity, and the private event menus reflect that.

Because Nashoba is a licensed winery, brewery, and distillery, all alcohol at your event is provided by them, and that’s not a limitation. It’s a feature. Your guests will be drinking wine, beer, and spirits made on the property. That’s a meaningful point of difference from a typical venue bar, and it’s something guests consistently talk about.

Note that wine tastings at the property require advance reservations and aren’t something guests can casually wander into during your event. But your event’s bar package will feature those same products, so it’s built into the experience regardless.

Is Nashoba Valley Winery Right for Your Wedding?

Here’s a direct answer: Nashoba is a great fit if you’re planning a small, intimate wedding and you care more about food quality, atmosphere, and setting than square footage or headcount flexibility.

It’s probably not the right fit if you’re expecting to host more than 52 guests for an evening wedding, want a traditional full-day format with a separate ceremony space and long reception, or are set on a Saturday night for a large party.

That said, the venue is worth a visit even if you’re unsure. The property sells itself, and talking to their events team will give you a clearer sense of whether your vision can work within their current structure.

How many guests can Nashoba Valley Winery accommodate for a wedding?

For a traditional wedding at J’s Restaurant, the capacity is up to 52 guests. If your guest list is under 52, you’re in the sweet spot.

Does Nashoba Valley Winery do outdoor ceremonies?

The venue has beautiful outdoor spaces and the grounds are part of what makes it special. If you’re thinking about an outdoor ceremony element, it’s worth asking the events team directly about what’s possible given your guest count and chosen space. The orchard and vineyard backdrop makes for genuinely beautiful ceremony photos.

What’s the best time of year for a Nashoba Valley Winery wedding?

Fall is the most visually spectacular time to get married at Nashoba. October in particular, when the apple orchards and surrounding foliage are at their peak, is hard to beat. Spring and summer are also lovely, with the property green and lush. Winter has its own appeal, especially if you’re doing a cozy indoor event at J’s Restaurant.

Can you bring outside vendors to Nashoba Valley Winery?

The venue handles food and alcohol in-house, but it’s worth confirming their policies on outside vendors like photographers, florists, and musicians directly when you inquire. Most venues have some flexibility here, and Nashoba’s events team is responsive. Email them at support@nashobawinery.com or reach out through their website.
