Some couples just get it. Afsaneh and Hamed were one of those pairs—easygoing, sweet, and totally down to do things their own way. Originally, they reached out about having me photograph their Boston City Hall wedding, but after talking through what they really wanted, we shifted gears. Instead of focusing on the paperwork part, they decided to go all in on a pre-wedding photo session. Just the two of them, in two spots they loved. Honestly? Great call.
We started at the Boston Public Garden, which, yes, is popular for a reason. The fall colors were peaking, the air was crisp, and the light was soft in that golden, early-evening kind of way. No big plans, no awkward posing. We walked, they talked, we paused when the moment felt right. Afsaneh’s dress swished in the breeze, Hamed looked at her like he always does, and we just let the city do its thing around us.

After that, we made our way across the river to MIT in Cambridge. If you’ve never wandered that campus, it’s a cool mix of classic architecture and minimalist modern corners. The lines, the light, the quiet, you wouldn’t think a school campus would be romantic, but it works. It felt totally different from the garden, which gave their photos a nice balance of nature and structure.

This is why I love photographing elopements and pre-wedding sessions like this. There’s no pressure. No tight schedule. Just time to hang out and make photos that feel real. You’re not putting on a show, you’re just being yourselves in a place you love. As a Boston elopement photographer, that’s always what I’m aiming for. Photos that feel like you, not like someone else’s idea of what love should look like.
If you’re planning a small wedding, a City Hall elopement, or just want a chill, meaningful session around Boston or Cambridge, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s make something honest and beautiful—without the stress.
